Fall Booking Meeting +/-
|
This year’s Block Booking Meeting, to be held at the Atherton Hotel in State College on Monday and Tuesday, November 8 & 9, 2010. This meeting will be inclusive, participatory, practical, and useful for ALL of you, whether you’re a large, small, mid-sized, summer, independent, university, or municipal presenter. At this meeting, the focus is on building networks between presenters based on projects of mutual interest.
Registration for this year's booking meeting will begin at 11:30am on November 8 at the Atherton Hotel in State College, PA
The “pitch session” is scheduled to take place on November 8, from 2-6PM. Your participation in this portion of the meeting is invaluable, as it’s your opportunity to learn about what major projects are brewing in the state that you might want to join.
• Back by popular demand! We will be allowing Agents/artists to give a 10 minute “pitch” of their projects or special initiative to the group. These are best suited to talking about SPECIAL PROJECTS or SINGLE ENTITIES on a roster, whole-roster pitches are not well received by the membership.
• If you are working on such a project you’d like to share at this session, please email Amy Vashaw at adv1@psu.edu ASAP with as much detail as you know. At the session, you’ll learn about the artist, the program, the technical needs, the outreach capabilities, and have the opportunity to ask any questions you have that will help you determine your interest. Where possible, this session will include presentations by potential lead presenters as well as event agents to help us understand all aspects (technical, managerial, etc.) about proposed projects. Remember, this is a planning session and you need not be 100% committed to any project to learn about opportunities that may be available to you or how you might participate in a great experience. Work on these projects will continue after the booking meeting has concluded, so you will want to let the lead presenters know of your interest during this time.
To better serve our diverse membership base, Pennsylvania Presenters is continuing its SOF Presenter gathering (summer/outdoor/festival) at the Fall Booking Meeting. The meeting will have a working lunch on Monday with round table conversations about all things summer/outdoor/festival and discussions about booking projects for the 2011 SOF season.
Please be sure to update your information on the Members only booking database. It will be a useful tool when looking for potential block booking opportunities and provide discussion points during the meeting. Please remember that regardless what kind of presenter you are, your input is important. Your colleagues are depending on your active participation!
