About Us
Established in 1987 as a service organization, Pennsylvania Presenters is a consortium of arts presenters and others working in the performing arts. An organization dedicated to performing arts presenting, serving presenters throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. Members have direct input into the operations and planning process of the organization. Members collaborate on programming, block booking and grant opportunities. They establish dynamic peer-to peer connections, expand existing and create new networking occasions. PA Presenters has a place for every arts presenter or artist.
There are three tiers of regular membership dues based on budgets for artist fees. Other categories of membership, from student to artist manager, are also available with a floating dues range.
Pennsylvania Presenters is governed by a volunteer board of directors, drawn equally from the Eastern, Central, and Western parts of the state. PA Presenters enjoys a great relationship with Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Pennsylvania Performing Artist On Tour and many other granting and funding agencies.
Purpose
Our purpose is to provide a forum for performing arts providers within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and surrounding region to strengthen the scope and quality of their craft. Nobody understands problems with boards, college administrations, program committees, audiences, the INS and visas, budget cutbacks, diva fits, and lost trucks better than another presenter. PA Presenters offers regularly scheduled meetings where you can share ideas, concerns, and visions with your peers. All events include time to network and just plain visit with friends.
A quarterly newsletter keeps you informed about PA Presenters events, colleagues' activities, and news from granting organizations.
Time spent networking, commissioning projects together, discussing issues, and creating tours frequently leads to friendships in and around the state. Picking up a phone to ask a colleague a question or inviting a fellow presenter to a performance becomes second nature. These friendships form an invaluable safety net which most all of us need at one time or another.
